Hi, I’m Kristen Higdon.
I am a CYA-RYT 400 yoga teacher with training in Hatha yoga, Children’s yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Meditation. I've been practicing yoga for over a decade, and it has become an integral part of both my personal and professional life.
As a public school teacher, I regularly bring mindfulness and yoga into my work with students. I also hold a degree in Special Education and spent many years working as an instructional resource teacher. My experience in the school system has strengthened my ability to create spaces where people feel safe, seen, and supported. I've also continued to deepen my understanding of trauma-informed practices through professional learning, independent study, and workshops with Brenda Hershey of Trauma Recovery Yoga (TRY) Global as part of my Children's Yoga Teacher Training.
Outside of yoga, I enjoy practicing jiu-jitsu. Like yoga, jiu-jitsu challenges me both physically and mentally and serves as a moving meditation leaving me feeling grounded and focused. Yoga has also had a positive impact on my jiu-jitsu practice by improving my body awareness, mobility, stability, and strength.
When I'm not on one mat or the other, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, enjoying the outdoors, reading a good book, or taking a new course. I'm a lifelong learner and believe there is always something new to discover.
My goal is to offer yoga classes that support the life you're living today and the one you're building for tomorrow.
